Description of the decisions of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology

1. Anatomy and histology course (first year - second semester) taught with an average of 2 theoretical hours and 2 practical hours (3 credit hours).

Course description:

This course includes basic definitions, the basic components of the human body, the locomotive, nervous, cardiac, respiratory, digestive, genitourinary, glandular, auditory and visual sensory systems.

2. Physiology and Pathophysiology course (second year - first semester): taught with an average of 3 theoretical hours (3 credit hours).

Course description:

This course aims to introduce students to all types of physiology, neurophysiology, glandular physiology, digestion physiology, blood physiology, cardiac physiology, anatomy and introduction to the various body systems such as the locomotor system, the cardiac circulatory system, the nervous system, the digestive system, the urinary and reproductive systems.

3. General Toxicology Course (fourth year - first semester): taught at a rate of 2 hours for the theoretical section and 3 hours for the practical section (3 credit hours).

Course description:

This course aims to introduce students to toxic substances and classify these materials according to their different forms and effects. It also explains the methods of entry of toxic substances into the body, and the metabolism and kinetics of toxic substances.

4. General Pharmacology course (third year - first semester) taught with an average of 3 theoretical hours (3 credit hours)

Course description:

This course aims to introduce students to principles of pharmacology, mechanisms of effect of drugs, chemical mediators, neurotransmitters, and pharmacogenomics.

5. Systemic pharmacology course (1) (third year - second semester): taught with an average of 2 theoretical hours and 3 practical hours (3 credit hours)

Course description:

This course aims to introduce students to self-medication, neuropharmacology, anti-inflammatory, gout, and chemotherapy drugs.

6. Systemic Pharmacology Course (2) (fourth year - first semester): taught with an average of 2 theoretical hours and 3 practical hours (3 credit hours)

Course description:

This course aims to introduce students to the drugs used in the treatment of various diseases, and to classify them according to the vital devices that are used in their treatment, as well as antibiotics and vitamins of all kinds.

7. The Applied and Legal Toxicology Course (fourth year - second semester): It is taught at a rate of two theoretical hours and two practical hours (3 credit hours).

Course description:

This course aims to introduce students to poisoning, its sources, the effect of the toxic substance on the body and the various body organs, and the types of animal and plant poisons, pesticides, and household chemicals.

8. Public Health and Environmental Pollution Course (fourth year - first semester): taught with a theoretical average of 3 hours (3 credit hours).

Course description:

This course aims to introduce students to pollution, epidemiology and public health, the forms of pollution and its sources, the factors affecting the distribution of pollutants, the effects of pollution on the environment and life, the effect of pollutants on the body's systems and organs, the possibility of their genetic transmission, the analysis of environmental hazards, and how to treat waste and prevent pollution.

9. Ambulance (fifth year - second semester) taught at a rate of 3 theoretical hours (3 credit hours).

Course description:

This course aims to introduce students to the principles of first aid in some emergency situations, such as heat stroke, burns, snakebite, digestive complications, and heart-lung attacks.
